You can find all of these cool facts and more in a new book series for kids, The Human Body Detectives.
The Human Body Detectives (HBD) is an award winning story-telling childrens’ book series, and website for kids. Author of this series, Dr. Heather Manley is a Hawaii-based naturopathic physician.
As a mom of five myself, agree that it is very important to teach our children about making healthy choices. I was excited to have the opportunity to review this entire series, and was very impressed with all of the information that was compacted into these stories. Anytime you get a nine year old saying “Oooh gross, keep reading!” I’d say it’s captured their attention.
The HBD books take characters Merin and Pearl (created after the authors daughters) on adventures through the body in search of answers to various health mysteries. Readers are introduced to a variety scientific names for parts and systems within our bodies with simple explanations of what each part does.
