Would you believe this adorable little picnic utensil caddy started out life as three pickle jars and a box from Goodwill?
It’s amazing what a new coat of paint can do!
I got lucky and found a box for a quarter that fit my three pickle jars perfectly, but if you wanted to construct one yourself (it would be super easy) the dimensions are 12.5x5x3
I gave the box a rough coat of my favorite blue paint, and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the word EAT, which I used on both sides as a stencil. The result was a little too crisp, so I simply sanded it down a tiny bit to distress the box.
I peeled the labels off the jars, and used a little Goo Gone to completely remove all the stickiness left behind. Again, with my Silhouette, I cut my vinyl words, Knives, Spoons, and Forks and added them to the jars. If you don’t have a Silhouette, no worries, there are a vast amount of scrapbook stickers you could use on the jars. Just be careful to only wipe them down, not submerse them in water when you clean them.
That’s it! Ready for a Summer picnic or Barbeque!

This is super cute! I love that your before picture one of the jars still has pickles in it. 🙂 I love the color that you chose and the fact that you used jars that we all have in fridge. No jar purchasing required. Wa-hoo! Great job and thanks for the inspiration. This would make a fabulous wedding gift! Have a happy weekend!

I love this idea, but I've never found a way to clean the lid of a pickle jar so it doesn't smell all "pickley". Tips please? I've used bleach, baking soda, and various other cleaners to no avail. The lids STILL smell like pickles.

What letters did you use or what did you use to keep them on the jar?
