I love this time of year! The weather is gorgeous, not too hot to venture outdoors for the entire day.
This past weekend, the kids and I, with a couple of their little friends, journeyed to a local farm, that hosts a number of “Fall” related activities for the family. For an unbelievably fair price, you pick your own pumpkins, eat farm fresh boiled peanuts, take a long hay ride, play in the corn box, slide on the tunnel slide (I even did this one), zip down a zip line, enjoy a huge crop of sunflowers, pet farm animals, and play on the wooden play structures. They even had a pumpkin cannon, although they didn’t shoot it while we were there.
When we first pulled up, all I saw were preschoolers running around, and I though “Oh no, my big kids are going to be soooo bored” But, I think there’s something about a farm and being outside that brings out the kid in all of us, because we all had a blast. We were filthy by the time we left, but it was absolutely worth it. I will definitely be adding this to our annual to-do list with the kids.
If you haven’t ventured out to a local farm with your family, I highly suggest doing so. Find one and go. Even if it’s not you’re thing, you might be very surprised to find how much you enjoy it!
