It seems that monthly subscription boxes are all the rage these days! I have a monthly subscription to Little Passports for my kids, but I’ve never taken the leap to try a subscription box for myself. I’ve had my eyes on subscription boxes from Wantable for a while now because they seemed reasonably priced, and they’re available in a makeup box, accessory box, intimates box, and even limited edition holiday boxes. So, when I had the opportunity to try out the makeup box for October, I definitely wanted in.
Now, let me preface this with the fact that I’m not a makeup expert, so I was a little nervous about not knowing in advance what I’d be getting in my box, and being able to receive products that I liked. At $36 per month for a subscription (which can be cancelled at any time) or a one time fee of $40 I knew to be happy with my box, I’d need to love everything in it.
Once you take your style quiz, you click place order and Wantable will process your order and send you products unique to you based upon your preferences. You will receive 4 to 5 full-sized premium makeup products, hand-picked to perfectly match your preferences.
Products will be determined based on results of your style quiz and could include, but are not necessarily limited to the items shown in the website images- you could get a box full of things that are not shown in the images on the website.
The style quiz was actually pretty fun! I had to think for a second what my likes and dislikes really are, but don’t worry, Wantable makes it easy to figure out your preferences.
Once I placed my order, my box arrived at my doorstep within the week. I’m not sure if they’re always so fast, but I was impressed.
Opening the box was a little like opening a Christmas present, I had no idea what I was going to get but I just knew I’d love it!
Check out all the makeup goodness I received in my October box (to say I was happy with my box would be an understatement).
I especially like that an inventory sheet is included in each box, with a bit of information about each product you receive as well as how to use and apply it.
I was surprised to get this, because I put beauty tools low on my likes and dislikes. However, I’m actually glad I did get it because again, it’s something I wouldn’t normally purchase for myself, and I’ve found that I like it a lot. It’s soft and solid, and the perfect size to throw in a makeup bag for traveling.
Okay, this is the only thing I received that I honestly don’t think I’ll use very often, and that’s because it’s blue. I’m honestly just not sure how to wear blue mascara on a daily basis, or even once a week. If I figure it out though, I do like how smoothly the mascara goes on. It’s not clumpy at all, and feels light on my eyelashes.
My thoughts on this one are a bit mixed, because I love the color. A lot. But I don’t like the application. You sort of paint it onto your lips, and I’ve yet to get it to apply evenly. However, once I rub it across my lips with my finger, I think the color is great. It’s not sticky at all, very lightweight on my lips.
I also received a sample of Skinn- Skinn Instant Skin Tightener & Line Filler. Because this is a sample, the retail value is not included. It’s like a bonus, because you’ll always receive full size products.
Add all of that product up (not even counting my sample) and that box retails for $87.
You do the math- a box that is $36 monthly, or even $40 for a one time purchase, and you’ve saved over 50%. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
If you’re looking for a great unique gift idea this season for someone who already has everything, Wantable makes it available so you can send a box or subscription as a gift. Once you’re a customer yourself, you can also refer a friend for credits.
I’ve got a few friends in mind who would love this, and as for myself, I’m thinking of continuing my subscription or even trying a different type of box.
Either way, I think I’m going to join in on the subscription box train for a while.
