Our Elf on the Shelf Creative Ideas- Ringo Bells Takes on Christmas 2013

December 2, 2013 by Molly

It’s time for the Elf on the Shelf! We start ours on December 1.
We had a lot of fun with our elf Ringo Bells last year, you can find all our Elf adventures over the years HERE, or follow me on Instagram for daily updates.

This year, I decided to share a little differently, and just update here daily as I snap a photo of the little guy each day, so be sure to check back often for new ideas.
I’ve got some fun surprises in store, a few DIY ideas and such.

We do our elf a little differently than some. My kids know it’s my husband and I hiding him each day, and they’ve even whispered in my ear a few ideas they have as to where Ringo should hide this year. I just don’t like the idea of “the elf is watching you and will tell Santa” but I do like the idea of creative and imaginative thinking, and the light in the kids eyes when they find him each day is worth it!

The elf showed up at the front door with a letter for the kids and a ton of huge suitcases. He’s ready for the season!

Time to play hide and seek. The kids walked by him in the flower vases a million times before they found him.

The elf hitched up Rudolph and took a sleigh ride to the “North Pole”

In love with Tinkerbell

Little Drummer elf

Elf in a jar

Popcorn 50¢ (I wish movie popcorn was this cheap!)

Caught red handed in the pantry with a spoonful of peanut butter. I’m just wondering why he didn’t sneak the Nutella?

Even elves have to practice good personal hygiene. Ringo Bells took a bath and shaved his face. (Don’t worry, I only used bubble wrap, not real bubbles)

Swinging around the Christmas tree

Cupcake picnic with a little gnome friend

The kids forgot to find Ringo Bells in the morning before school (which is good, because he “forgot to hide” that morning anyway, ahem…) so he greeted them on the front porch when they came home from school, singing into a hanging mike while playing the guitar.

Kids, don’t try this at home. Only elves should get stuck in the dryer.

Hanging with the folks at the Nativity

Sledding down a couch cushion

Wrapped in a towel, freezing in the freezer

Waiting in the car for the kids before school. This one was funny because they were frustrated they couldn’t find him before they left, only to find him waiting patiently in the car

Decorating with bows all over our cabinets

On the laptop, checking out things on elfontheshelf.com

Just hanging around on the swingset

Dive bombing from the kitchen light fixture

Stuck in the candy jar

Going out with a bang as Batman!

Left a photo of himself with Santa

This senior is excited to see your posts about Ringo again! No kiddos in my house but my elf GIGI returned a week ago. She helped me countdown and finish ornies to sell at the Holiday Flea Market we did yesterday. Looking forward to lots more Christmas activites…
