XOXO Wall Art- Pottery Barn Knock-off

Do you decorate for Valentines Day? I do, minimally though because I always feel like I just put away my Christmas stuff, you know?
Each year I do try to add a little something new. Last year my favorite new piece was my 30 Minute Valentines Typography Art, and a few years before that was our Valentines Handprint Hearts my kiddos helped me make.
This year I found this great inspiration piece from Pottery Barn.

To make my own,  I already had an old piece of art in a rustic window frame that I knew would be perfect to makeover. If you’re looking to make your own, windows are fairly easy to find at salvage yards and antique stores. Then, just cut a piece of wood to fit the back.

I removed the print that was in the frame, and got the kiddos involved by having them paint some X’s and O’s red and white. These were just basic unfinished wood letters for under $2 each at Michaels Crafts.

Then, I flipped that original print over and spray painted the back with black matte. Again, if you’re cutting a piece of wood to fit your frame, you can paint it any color you’d like. I simply prefered black for my space.

When all the paint was dry, I gave the letters a quick sanding.

Hot glue was next, and with it I attached the letters directly onto the black board.

I didn’t realize how yellow the frame I used is until I saw the white O’s up next to it, but it doesn’t bother me at all. 
What do you think of mine vs my inspiration? 
Not too bad huh? 
Oh, I almost forgot to mention the small price point difference- mine was about $8 compared to PB for $119.
