My sons and I snuggled on the sofa this past week to watch this DVD, and as always with the Veggies, they giggled away. I enjoyed the little references that the gown-ups will catch, listen carefully for the Groupon and Bob the Builder reference, it’ll make you smile. We also got a kick out of the little hipster artsy piggies.
One thing that was interesting to me, the second half of the DVD about Humpty Dumpty was unfamiliar to my kids. I’ve never really thought of it before, but they’ve never really heard of Mother Goose or many of the nursery rhymes, so I had to fill them in a little on that.
The lesson of making good choices is one of my favorites so far, because it’s an appropriate and timeless lesson that kids of all ages should learn. The Little House That Stood makes open discussion about the lesson and moral of the stories easy while we watch, as well as afterwards.
In my opinion, The Litte House That Stood has found itself in our top five favorite VeggieTales stories yet!
