To Be Loved Album by Michael Bublé

May 16, 2013 by Molly

Michael Bublé To Be Loved Album review

What do you think of when you hear the name Michael Bublé? Classic, pure, romantic, beautiful music? Yes, that and so much more. This is exactly what you’ll hear on his album To Be Loved, released April of 2013.

Bublé said of To Be Loved– “I want to take you on a wonderful journey about love—all different kinds of love. The album swings big time: it rocks, it’s soulful, it’s happy, sometimes a little sad. It’s romantic, it’s yummy, and it’s heartfelt.”

On this album, not only will you find four original songs co-written by Grammy winner Bublé, dipping into his personal life for inspiration, but also cover songs by Frank Sinatra, the Bee Gees, Elvis Presley (and more) as well as a collaboration with Reese Witherspoon, Bryan Adams, and others.

To Be Loved Track Listing:
1. “You Make Me Feel So Young”
2. “It’s a Beautiful Day”
3. “To Love Somebody”
4. “Who’s Lovin You”
5. “Something Stupid” (featuring Reese Witherspoon)
6. “Come Dance with Me”
7. “Close Your Eyes”
8. “After All” (featuring Bryan Adams)
9. “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You” (with Naturally 7)
10. “To Be Loved”
11. “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”
12. “Nevertheless (I’m in Love with You)” (featuring The Puppini Sisters)
13. “I Got It Easy”
14. “Young at Heart”

Personally, I always enjoy knowing back stories to songs. When I fell in love with his original, Close Your Eyes I was happy to learn his inspiration came from the anticipation of being a first time dad, a man in love with life.

“I wrote Close Your Eyes about my wife and about the power of all the women in my life—my sisters, my mom, my grandma and all women in general. Let’s face it, where would we be without them? I Got It Easy, another original, is basically a song where I count my blessings and is a reminder to me and everyone to appreciate all the good parts of life. I’m a very lucky guy and I never want to forget it.”

Another of my personal favorites on the album is surprisingly Something Stupid featuring Reese Witherspoon. I honestly didn’t know the girl could sing, much less hold a candle to Bublé, but she cuts it!

The classic appeal of the music takes me to another time and place. I can close my eyes and easily picture slow dancing with my husband while Frank Sinatra sings in the background, or sway to the sound of the Bee Gees To Love Somebody.

To Be Loved is available to purchase on Amazon, as well as free streaming if you’re an Amazon Prime member.

Not taking advantage of all the Prime membership benefits yet? You can join with a free 30 day trial of Amazon Prime Music – The Only Music Streaming Service with Free 2-day Shipping.

I’ll leave you with this awesomeness- with a sense of humor, I think you’ll enjoy this official video for It’s a Beautiful Day
