My daughter Arah and I found this great Eiffel tower lamp at a thrift store the other day for only $4.99. The design matches her room, but was a bit stark in it’s industrial black and white. I’m sure for some spaces it was already perfect, but you know me, paint makes everything even better!

So, re-do we did! We wrapped up the top part where the bulb screws in and the cord with paper and blue painters tape.

We headed outside to our “well ventilated area” and sprayed away with our favorite metallic silver Krylon spray paint.
One coat did the job, and we didn’t even use primer. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times- a good brand of paint makes a world of difference.

Next, to spruce up that plain white shade, Arah looked up her favorite scripture and translated it on an online translator to French. We simply free handed it onto the shade, circling the words all around it.

That’s it! If you aren’t comfortable free handing the script, you could find a friend with lovely handwriting, or you could even use tracing paper and transfer the script onto the shade that way, and trace over it.

There you have it, our $5 lamp makeover. Now get out to those thrift stores and yard sales and see what treasures you can find to makeover!
