As summer draws to a close, back to school is sure to creep it’s way to the top of our thoughts, kids and parents alike. I know it is for us. I’ve already done most of my shopping, both for clothes and supplies. But, it’s a heartbreaking fact that unfortunately many children fall behind in their education before the
school year even starts.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) have teamed up this year with JCPenney
through its charitable giving program, JCP cares, to help support
at-risk youth in communities across the country. Throughout the month
of July, JCPenney customers have been able to round up their store or JCP.com
purchases to the nearest whole dollar and donate the difference to
support Boys & Girls Clubs, and 100% of donations raised go to BGCA. You can read even more about this brilliant program HERE.
For more than 100 years,
Boys & Girls Clubs of America has supported the academic success of our nation’s youth. Each
year, the BGCA helps prepare nearly 2 million kids to succeed in school.
From providing quality afterschool programs, a caring mentor or simply
contributing notebooks and pencils, BGCA strives to enable all kids to
achieve great futures.
BGCA provides a safe place for children to learn and grow, and
programming designed to develop future leaders. Education, career,
leadership, character development, and sports and recreation are all
integral parts of the Club experience.
Through thrifty shopping, and smart purchases, my husband and I know we have been blessed to be able to provide for our children’s back to school needs each year. When we hear of campaigns like this, we know that it is something we want to help with, as I know many of you will. I hate the thought of little ones going without, and that back to school could be more stressful than it already is. I also know that every little bit helps, and that every dollar counts. With the help of the BGCA and JCP, more children will have a bright smile on their first day of school this year!
