The Tuneables are Raising the Bar for Children’s Music!

September 22, 2011 by Molly

Children and music are like peanut butter and jelly, they just go together.

Each one of my kids have always loved music! Over the last 14 years, we’ve experienced our fair share of childrens programing and music selections. Some have been great, others have left much to be desired.
I can honestly say that I’ve never come across a music project for kids quite like The Tuneables. When I was given the opportunity to review the two disk set “I Love Music”, I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical, wondering how different this could be from other children’s music on the market.
Wow! I was extremely surprised. My children, especially my five year old, were immediately drawn by the sounds and colors. I was personally impressed at the uniqueness, quality, thought, and time that has been put into this program. The Tunables teach a method of “hear it, see it, do it”. After only viewing the dvd once, my three year old was doing his best imitation of a few of the songs and movements later that evening.
The sponsor of this CD/DVD collection, The Music Intelligence Project, really hit it out of the park.
While I will admit that the octive they sing throughout the songs is a bit high, they are not annoying. Each character has a personality a unique as the instrument they represent. The favorite in our house is Snare, but I think that might be because my oldest son is learning the snare drum this year in school, and the two youngest are facinated by it.

Here is a bit more information about the Tuneables directly from the website:

The Tuneables is an award-winning children’s music educational DVD and CD series designed to teach the ABC’s of music at a critical time in a child’s development. Fun, interactive, and engaging, children will watch over and over while building a solid foundation of music learning. Sponsored by the Music Intelligence Project. Ages 3-8.

The Tuneables program is designed to provide an age-appropriate, carefully sequenced curriculum for young children (Ages 3-8).  The Tuneables curriculum is proven based on years of practical teaching experience and research.  Each DVD and CD in the series is designed to build on the lessons from the previous program.
In The Tuneables’ first video and audio CD, “I Love Music!”, children:

  • Move to the beat in the music,
  • Hear and sing tonal patterns in songs using the tones, “Do, Mi and Sol,”
  • Improve the sound and expand the range of their singing voices,
  • Immerse in the sounds and melodies of classical music.

The Tunables hard copies and downloads, as well as t-shirts, are are available for purchase on the website in The Music Shop.
