Meet the Artist! Loopz

October 3, 2011 by Molly

I was browsing Etsy not long ago, looking for cool Star Wars or super hero items for my son, and came across a very unique shop from Hong Kong called Loopz. I immediately knew I had to do a feature on her shop, because so many of my readers would love her art! She is a designer and a mother, who loves sewing and creating cute, but simple designs and graphics.
She agreed, and took the time to answer several questions about her business. Read through, and be inspired!

How or why did you get started with your craft/business?
One day my friend introduced Etsy to me. I love etsy, this is a good site for a designer and craftsman, I thought it is worth a try. So, I started to create plush toys for my shop and gifts for my daughter too.

Is there a story behind the name of your shop?
Loopz means infinite loop of creativity, design, and sale.

What has been the most rewarding thing about running your own shop?
After running my shop, I always keep on browsing the web site, and I go to the book stores to get some new inspiration. Having a target in life feels so great. I’m happy with the creating process and feel so excited when I get the buyers comments. I like to keep busy making new things.
What has been the hardest?
No time for sewing when large quantity sales come. I don’t want the buyer to have to wait so long for the items. So, for now I just have brooches and printable files in my shop.

Do you have a specific schedule during the day you follow while working on your craft, or do you fit it your work in whenever you can throughout the day?
I always working at night after my daughter goes to bed.
What is your most favorite item to create?
2012 Calendar, Cute Animal Printable, and superhero prints are my favorite items.

How do you manage everything (being a mom, running a shop, etc)?
I have a daughter, she is 3 years old now. Usually just by working at night after she goes to sleep.
Where do you create?
My own room
What is your favorite color? Do you find yourself using it often in your work?
My favorite color is black and white. I seldom just use this on design.

How do you spread the word or describe your shop?
Handmade for all ages – not just for children, but for all ages and all gender.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Night owl
Do you listen to music while you work? If so, what do you listen to?
K-pop and J-pop
Where do you see yourself and your shop in the next year? Five years?
I will keep on creating more of a variety of items, nursery prints, iPhone case, stickers… I never think about what five years later will be… just want to do the best now.

Any advice you would give to someone considering opening their own shop?
I am not a success buyer, so I can’t give any advice. On my experience, don’t calculate gains and losses. Just do something you like.
Come on, you know you love this designers art as much as I do!
There are lots of ways you can stay connected with Loopz in order to know when she offers new designs.
