going to do it without her. But if anything needs restoration, it is
Owen’s heart. Then he meets Brooke and her kids and finds himself
tempted by love. Can he bring himself to trust a woman again?

Throw an eccentric uncle into the mix, along with the town’s teenage
troublemaker, and even a finicky cat—and one thing becomes clear: God is
bringing them all together for a reason.


My Thoughts-

 
Contemporary fiction at it’s best! The House that Love Built is the first novel I’ve read by Beth Wiseman. She is traditionally an author of Amish stories, which have never interested me. However when I read the synopsis of this book, it immediately captured my attention, and I knew it was a story I needed to read. 

There was not one main character in this story that doesn’t capture your heart in one way or another, which can be rare in a book. Owen is the “Strong Guy” (as stated at one point in the story)you root for. Your heart aches for Brooke as life just deals her one blow after the other, yet she seems to hang in there. Her kids are precious, yet real in their thoughts and struggles of their mom starting to date again after the death of her husband.

I loved that this book took a heads on approach to real life issues- unforgiveness, divorce, death, sickness, abuse- and bathed all of those issues in the love of God. I also appreciated that the author kept it real, and each of the characters that dealt with these issues struggled with their faith at various times, because as humans we often will do that. Each character had to find their way, and the Lord met them exactly where they were. Ultimately, love and forgiveness, of ourselves and from God wins when we let him.
