Five Tips to Create An Outdoor Oasis Space You’ll Love! {Plus a Pier1 Giveaway Winner Announced} #Pier1OutdoorParty

Lazy summer days and warm summer nights didn’t get their reputation for being one of the best times of year for nothing. These beautiful days create the perfect atmosphere for entertaining outdoors. Over the years our outdoor parties have been some of the most memorable we’ve had, sharing drinks and good food with family and friends.
This year, with some help from Pier1,  I was able to take some of my favorite finds from their outdoor collection and pair them with items I already had to create a bright and colorful “Outdoor Oasis” for our space.
While shopping at Pier1 to create my outdoor oasis, here are some tips that helped me make the most of my purchases to create a space I love.
Follow these tips, and your sure to have an fun party atmosphere in no time-


 1. Make it suit YOU.
Whether you like bright bold colors or softer neutrals, Pier1 has collections to suit your style.
I personally love colored glass, so for my patio table I chose a gorgeous blue hobnail glass lantern and a citronella candle (to make it pretty & to keep the bugs at bay)


 2. Make your space multi-use.
I chose this adorable green pedestal table because when not in use it can hold some of my favorite plants, and when we’re outdoors, it becomes a great place for drinks. Or, of course in the age of technology, to lay down your cell phone while you eat. 


 3. Treat your outdoor space as an extention of your indoor space.
At our house, these colorful acrylic goblets are a hit. Although they’ve become some of my family’s favorite cups to use indoors on what seems like an everyday basis, they’re perfect outdoors because they’re not glass, and are much more durable if one should be tipped or dropped. 


 4. Make your atmosphere welcoming.
As the sun sets, lights and candles are great for ambiance. I put two strands of my favorite sea glass string lights on the outside of our pool deck. There’s nothing like a little twinkle to set a fun mood. 


 5. Your food and drinks make a space memorable too.
Serving your favorite dishes are just as important as what you serve them on and with. For us, there’s nothing that says outdoor cookout, oasis, barbeque, party, whatever you want to call it more than down home cooking. Fried fish, burgers, watermelon, homemade mac & cheese, corn on the cobb, and of course sweet tea and lemonade. 


 More than anything else, and the reason why you want to make a space pretty anyway, is to enjoy spending time with the people you love. At the end of the day, the space and atmosphere you create becomes the backdrop to the memories you create.
