We Have Heroic Habits, Do You?

October 8, 2014 by Molly

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for LISTERINE. I received samples for this review and a promotional item to thank me for participating. #MC

Heroes have to take care of their teeth too!
That’s one of lines we’ve used to motivate our kids into taking care of their teeth over the years.

We’ve had a bit of an interesting ride with oral care and our young ones since the day the first baby tooth popped out about seventeen years ago. While we’ve been adament about brushing regularly and having their teeth cleaned twice a year at a dentist, we’ve still had a few cavities over the years. Out of the five kiddos, my daughter has never had one cavity but did have her wisdom teeth out last year. My sons have been another story entirely. It seems that our regular routine of brush at night and in the mornings wasn’t enough to keep cavities at bay. After my now teenage son had his first cavity in kindergarten, my husband and I knew we needed to step up our game, not to say that has always been an easy thing to do.

Sometimes it seemed like trying to floss a toddlers teeth was equivalent to bathing a cat. And mouth rinse on a first grader? Not likely if it burns their mouth.
Thus, needing oral care products that work well and make life a little easier had to be of the utmost importance. I wish back then I’d have been able to use the same new LISTERINE products with my older kids that my younger ones can now use.
The LISTERINE Smart Rinse (especially with my son’s favorite super heroes on the label) has become a hit at my house. I like that it provides 12-hour cavity protection while the boys like the taste of it and that it doesn’t burn.

Also, using the mint floss (gentle gum care for sensitive gums) combined with the ultraclean access flosser has made flossing the teeth in their small mouths much easier.

Back to school means a busier day, but also more structured. These days, my little heroes (and big ones too) start their mornings with a good brush and rinse, and end the days with another brush, and as often as we can a floss as well.

My husband and I know that, like most parents, we’re heroes in our kids eyes so we do our best to set healthy examples. We follow the same oral care routine as our kids, often brushing alongside them.

LISTERENE recognizes that heroic habits are important to establish, and they’ve put together a bunch of fun YouTube videos that are sure to make you smile and encourage you to start your own healthy habits within your family.

How you champion healthy routines in your household? Let me know some of our own heroic habits!

You can shop now to find these and other great products from LISTERINE.
