My Favorite Tools for the Perfect Hair Day (PhD) Challenge

October 29, 2014 by Molly

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Living Proof. I received product samples to facilitate my review and to thank me for my participation. #MC

I’m going to share a secret with you, I don’t really like going to a salon to get my hair done. I don’t know why but it’s just not my thing. I definitely stretch the months between cuts as long as I can. In fact, it was July the last time I had it done. Is there a way to do this and still keep my hair healthy and looking great? I think so, and it’s all about using quality products to care for it.

Since the end of summer my daughter and I have taken the Living Proof Perfect hair Day Challenge (PhD). That doesn’t mean that we want perfect hair every day, it means that we want to find a product that will leave our hair looking it’s best while still being healthy. No one wants nice looking hair that’s actually not healthy, dry, and damaged, right? Do the Living Proof products meet the challenge? Let’s see…

You may remember my post about her prom and wedding hair styles and how gorgeous it looked thanks to some top quality hair products. Our two favorites are the Living Proof 5-in-1 Styling Treatment that’s (used before any heat treatments like blow drying or the flat iron) and the Restore Mask Treatment (used once a week after shampoo and conditioner).

You can see how healthy my hair still looks between now and then. I started using Living Proof products around the beginning of September.

My hair care routine:
Wash every other day with Living Proof shampoo and conditioner.
Use the 5-in-1 Styling Treatment when I blow dry it.
If I let it air dry, I use the 5-in-1 Styling Treatment before I flat iron it straight.
Once a week, I use the Restore Mask Treatment when I shower.

Last year, I cut over 12 inches off my hair and donated it to make wigs for children in need. I’ve loved my shorter hair but it also means that I can’t pull it back into ponytails or do any quick fixes on it. Because of this, I literally have to fix my hair with styling tools every day or it’s unruly. I don’t want to ruin my hair or burn it using a flat iron or blow dryer so frequently, so that’s where the use of the 5-in-1 Styling Treatment has been helpful. I use each time I style my hair with heat tools.

Since we began using the Living Proof products, my daughter and I have both seen a different in not only the health of our hair, but the ease of styling it. We don’t have to wash every day, we can go every other day and it’s still not too oily or too dry. Did the Living Proof products live up to the PhD Challenge? I say yes. What do you think?

this year I started using a curling iron again and it makes life so much easier. But you're right, you do need to put good products in your hair to make up for the tortuous heat we inflict on our locks. That's awesome that you donated 12 inches!!
