New Music From Mary J. Blige: The London Sessions

November 21, 2014 by Molly

I participated in the Mary J Blige The London Sessions album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided a free album to review but all opinions are my own. #TheLondonSessions #O2O

Everyone knows who Mary J. Blige is, and many of us have grown up listening to her over the years. I love her soulful sound, and lyrics that tell stories.
She’s always been one of my favorite R&B musicians when I feel the mood to listen to that particular genre. Because of this, I was excited to hear of her new and soon to be released album- The London Sessions.

In an effort to shake things up and step out of her musical comfort zone, Mary J Blige spent a month in London writing and collaborating with some of the most exciting and popular artists in the UK – including Sam Smith, Disclosure, Emeli Sandé. The result is her highly anticipated album The London Sessions – which will be released on December 2, 2014.

An inspirational and powerful performer, Mary J Blige knows the ups and downs of life. If you’ve ever seen her perform, you know the passion she brings to her everything she does. The London Sessions is full of meaningful moments and uplifting messages. Get ready for some “Therapy” in the form of a new Mary J Blige album!

The 12 track album drops December 2 this year.
I’ve had the opportunity to listen to it a little early, and I’ve gotta say I have a few favorites already- Not Loving You and Worth My Time. Those are the two slower ones, and that almost always makes them my first favorites on albums. Worth My Time has a strong message about pushing through tough times with the one you love. The album as a whole is very fast paced with a seriously hot variety of sounds. There’s truly something for everyone who loves the sound of soul.
