Hooray for Summer Vacation!

The week after the kids got out of school, I was shopping at Target to find some fun ideas and to stock up on some snacks for them. In the grocery aisle, I came across these adorable Campbell’s Soup and Goldfish® Special Edition! Cheddar Disney Pixar’s Finding Dory Crackers. My kids will all eat Goldfish crackers, and chicken noodle soup is always an easy lunch option especially when they feature fun new pasta shapes, so I stocked up on several of them (if you’d like to do the same, click HERE to save 20% off Goldfish crackers featuring Disney-Pixar Finding Dory, and click HERE to save 10% off Campbell’s Dory Healthy Kid’s soup). You can look for all 3 unique labels featuring Dory, Nemo and Hank.

My brain was already working in creative mode, and being inspired by the idea of Finding Dory, I thought that putting together a fun scavenger hunt for the kids to do this summer would be a lot of fun.

So, I created a set of scavenger hunt cards, with a lot of random items, as well as items they would find that I would use to make their lunch with.

Once you print them, you just need to cut them out with scissors or a paper cutter.

Use a hole punch on the top of the cards. Then use a key ring and loop each card through it. This keeps them all together and organized.

Free scavenger hunt ideas

There are a few ways to do a scavenger hunt.
You can have the kids team up and find the items together, or print two sets and have them race. I also like to set a timer and see how many items they can find within the time limit.
One other tip, when they’re done finding all the items, give them an extra incentive to put everything away when the game is over.

While they’re cleaning up, grab the soup, spoon, snack, and fruit they found and prepare their lunch.

This is a game they can play over and over all summer long.

What are your children’s favorite things to do over the summer?

I love ideas that keep kids off their screens…especially in summer. For fun our kids have been playing water balloons and loving it! Thanks for sharing at Welcome Home Wednesdays! See you next week!
