My kids are very into Pokemon GO this year. We’ve enjoyed taking nice walks around our city, playing the game and exploring. For costumes, I have one planning to be a Charizard and the other will be Ash. My sister is even making a Pokeball costume for my one year old nephew, which will be adorable. The boys asked me to make Pokemon pumpkins, especially a pokeball, so I decided to give it a try!
But why stop at a pokeball? How about a Squirtel and Pikachu also?
For my supplies, I found craft pumpkins at my local Dollar Tree, and then black felt and a pack of assorted craft foam sheets at Walmart.
I spray painted the three pumpkins in red, yellow, and aqua.
I will say, if you’re using foam craft pumpkins, you should prime and paint them with regular craft paint, because spray paint can melt the foam. It’s bizarre, I know.
If you’re using plastic or paper mache craft pumpkins, spray paint will work fine.
I simply cut out the assorted parts to each little character.
To attach, I used hot glue. Again, careful with the hot glue and foam pumpkins because they’ll melt if you get them too hot.
They look great and the kids love them!
I created free downloadable & printable patterns for all the little pieces to each pumpkin character.
You’ll have to print the patterns in the size you need to fit your own pumpkins. Cut the pieces from the craft foam with the exception of the black band that goes around the pokeball. This can be cut from felt.

Paint the pumpkin red on the top half, and white on the bottom. Glue the felt band around the center. Assemble the foam pieces and glue them into the center of the pumpkin

Paint your pumpkin yellow. Cut and assemble all the parts from the craft foam and hot glue them to the pumpkin.

Paint the squirtle pumpkin aqua. Cut and assemble the parts from the craft foam. Make sure you cut the tail from white, and then paint the tail the same aqua as the pumpkin. When it’s dry, use a marker in a similar shade and add the swirl detail to the tail. You can cut a cute mouth from craft foam as well (not included in the pattern) or you can draw or paint it on.

These are too cute for words, love them! 🙂
