The Elf on the Shelf 2018 Edition. This post may contain affiliate links.
This is our seventh year doing Elf on the Shelf.
And here on the blog, I’ve showed you all so many of our hiding places, tricks, and funny things that our elf, Ringo Bells, has done over the years.
You can find all the ideas I’ve shared on my posts throughout the year by clicking here- JUST A LITTLE CREATIVITY PRESENTS: ELF ON THE SHELF IDEAS
By the time it’s all said and done at the end of this Christmas season, that’s actually 175 different things this elf has done. And to the best of my knowledge, we’ve not repeated one of his antics.
We’re in a new house this year, and so that means new hiding place (I also realized that my youngest son doesn’t remember what the elf did the first year or two, so this might be a year we repeat a few things).
If you want to keep up, I’m sharing our elf and all his tricks daily on my Instagram stories, and I’ll update throughout the season here.
Fun Elf on the Shelf Ideas
Ringo Bells made is debut hanging in the wreath with a bunting banner announcing “I’m Back!”

Elf caught hiding in the poinsettia.

Never would’ve guessed to find him hiding in the utensil holder.

Have you ever seen the “See Rock City” barns in Chattanooga?
We found Ringo hiding in our barn bird house outside.

Back in the kitchen, he’s hanging in the hot cocoa mug.

Caught red-handed climbing out of the dog food container. Gross.

Elf found hanging out in the jungle.

Waiting snuggly in a blanket for the kids to head out to school for the day, so they could find him on the front porch.

Hiding in a cool milk glass lantern, that was definitely safe.

Ringo Bells was back outside on the porch on a cold evening, bundled in his parka (just like this one), and hanging out on the snowflake.

Found in the freezer, with some very colorful ice cubes.

Obviously Ringo celebrated late into the night with some Krispy Kreme donuts.

The kids thought they wouldn’t find him before they left for school. Made it all the way to the front porch before they realized elf was hitching a ride in the jacket pocket.

Caught hitching a ride in the back of a vintage pickup truck with a boxwood wreath.
We got a kick out of this one because the official Elf on the Shelf page on Instagram messaged us and told us they though it was a good hiding place.

I’m gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chaandelierrrrr!
