Growing up, my mom always had a large container full of hot chocolate mix ready for us every winter. Her recipe makes a TON.
I put mine in a gallon Ball Mason jar. I found my jar at Target, but you can find many similar gallon jars on Amazon also.
The ingredients are simple, and you can adjust the sweetness level to your satisfaction by adding a little more or less of the powdered sugar or chocolate powder.
I prefer it sweeter, but my family likes it a little less, so this recipe is a compromise right in the middle.
Party Sized Hot Chocolate Mix

- 12 oz instant milk
- 8 oz. Coffee Mate powdered creamer
- 35 oz Nestle powdered chocolate milk mix
- 24 oz powdered sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 gallon jar with lid
In a large bowl, whisk ingredients together, I add each ingredient one at a time to be sure to get an even mixture.

Transfer mix to an airtight jar.
For one 8 oz cup of hot chocolate, mix a few heaping spoonfuls to taste into hot water. I like to just use the hot water straight from my Keurig.

For a party, you can make the hot chocolate in your slow cooker about two to three hours before guest arrive. You’ll use about 8 cups (half the gallon jar) with water on high.
Top with your favorite Christmas ingredients such as marshmallows, chocolate syrup, candy canes, and sprinkles!

Delicious hot chocolate mix recipe that can be made individually in mugs of hot water, or ahead of time in the slow cooker. As an Amazon Associate and member of other affiliate programs, I earn from qualifying purchases.
