With the turn of the new year, what could be a better time to commit to teach our young children easy to understand principles of money, saving, and giving. I’ve read this fantastic book, Three Cups, with my own kids, and they are very excited about learning how to take care of money. My youngest ones don’t get an allowance yet, but together as a family we can show them how we implement the principles in this book to help them understand godly ways we  handle our money. I want my children to grow up knowing that money is not for spending as soon as we have it, but instead the principle of sewing and reaping that my husband and I live by. 


From the beginning of our marriage, my husband and I have always tithed 10% of our income to our church, and have saved what we can. We’ve not always made a lot of money, but I know that because we’ve been faithful in the little that we’ve had, God has blessed us throughout our years. We’ve never lacked for anything we need as a family, and have been blessed in an abundance of ways. We want our children to learn to follow these same principles, and the book Three Cups is a great beginning point for our youngest.

    My kids need to earn allowance and they each have a bank account! This helps them manage their game!

    my kids are still babies (2 1/2 and 9mo) so we haven't quite gotten there yet, other than having a piggy bank. We do plan on opening a savings account for them and want to do the spend save and give method. I would love to read this book!

    I try and teach them these same basic general principles, although I've never had a "system" so to speak, so this would be a nice encouragement for them.
