Thinking about the new school year about to begin, would you like a little help in the mornings getting the kids day started in a more organized way? Or maybe you have a teenager who can tend to be a bit forgetful of what needs to be done other than dragging themselves to the couch and falling back to sleep?
My answers to both of those questions was yes, so I created a morning to-do list that might (hopefully) help out a bit.
What’s one place each kid will pass by so there’s no way they can miss it? In my house it’s their bathroom mirror. I’m still a bit of an amature using my Silhouette Cameo, but I knew vinyl on the mirror would work perfectly.
So, in Silhouette Studio, I used the text tool and designed a list of the basics to check off as the kids they do the task.
I added each child’s initial at the top, and incorporated a grid so they could check off individual boxes with a dry erase marker. Don’t worry, the marker wipes away completely from the mirror glass.
In the Silhouette Studio, after I made the grid with my rectangle tool, I highlighted the entire space and used the weld tool to take away any extra lines and make sure no lines crossed each other. The weld tool did this beautifully.
Then, I simply cut it out on white vinyl.
Last, I applied it to the mirror. It really doesn’t block the view much, but the kids definitely can’t miss it. I noticed if the dry erase marker writes over the lines, it wipes off the vinyl easily as well.
One last thing, you can write on the mirror any extra reminders (test today, baseball practice tonight) or you can even have a bit of fun with this, and leave sweet notes on the mirror for to help jump start their morning in a good way. Not only is that a good way to remind them of the daily tasks, but also to you love them and are mindful of their day!
