We’re a family of seven, plus two Great Danes, so needless to say, our floors take a beating. We have a variety of flooring (carpet, linoleum, and tile) so I was interested in a product like the Hoover TwinTank Steam Mop that claims to clean all three.
My first stop? The kids bathroom. Oh yeah, I figured if it could clean and disinfect that floor, then it would be fantastic.
The Pros:
Assembly was extremely easy. Basically a click of the handle and it’s ready. The machine powers up and heats quickly, in under a minute. It was extremely easy to push and move using it on the linoleum and tile. Even with both tanks (water and solution) full it was lightweight without feeling flimsy. The cord is around 30’ long so constant plugging and unplugging wasn’t necessary in my house. I was able to clean the entire bathroom, kitchen, hallway, and dining room, and only needed to refill the water tank once. It is not a loud machine, which is definitely a plus.
The pads are machine washable, and air dry, so that means buying replacements often won’t be necessary. I’d probably not wash them with clothes, but on a sanitary cycle alone or with other cleaning towels. I personally hand washed mine because I didn’t want to run an entire wash cycle for just the pads. When I did wash it out, the water was filthy, so I guess that’s proof enough that

1. My floors needed a good cleaning and
2. That this steam mop worked well
Because of it’s compact size, storage is easy. It comes with a tray to sit on while cooling down, which is good because the instructions are specific about not leaving the steam mop sitting in one place because it may cause damage to that spot of your floor.
The Cons:
The machine comes with three pads, one for hard floors and two for carpets. I believe most people will use this for their hard floors, so I wish it had come with two of those pads instead of only one, because it becomes saturated pretty quickly. I’m not sure why you’d use this often on carpet, but if you did, it’s very hard to push. The pad tends to get stuck, and I had to really muscle it to get it to move across the carpet, and even then it wasn’t easy. You also had to constantly hold down the trigger for the steam to work instead of a locking mechanism or button, which could make someones hand tired quickly.
However, the most disappointing aspect was that, while my floors were more clean after using, the linoleum was definitely streaked in some spots after it dried. Not so on the tile, and not even on all the linoleum, but mostly in the areas I cleaned last. Maybe that’s because the pad was overly wet, but then that would go back to my point of needing two of those instead of one. Lastly, I’m not too sure of the price point. Although Hoover is a trusted brand, I’m still not sure I’d spend $100 or more on this product.

In Conclusion:
When I was finished, I can say that my floors, including the kids bathroom felt much more clean and refreshed. I enjoy the fact that I didn’t have to ring out a dirty mop, and that it was a very easy machine to use, and I will definitely be using it in my home again.
I received a sample of this product to facilitate my review, but my opinions are entirely my own. I wrote this review while participating in a

Very good review and I may have to give it a try. 🙂
I've always wanted to try a steam mop!! It is a bummer that there were some streaks visible after use. I wonder how this could be prevented??? I need to check out the Hoover TwinTank Steam Mop! Thanks for the review!!
