Toy Box and Doll Bed Chalk Paint Makeover {Before and After}

Because I just know how much you love before and after projects, I’m here to share another one (technically two) I’ve been working on for my shop at Miles of Art. You may remember my 10 Fabulous Chalk Paint Furniture Makeovers post, so just imagine that this set is included with them, because I’m loving these. 


Both pieces, the toy box and doll bed, are solid wood, thrift store finds. Both just needed a little tlc. In fact, we tried to sell the toy box in it’s pre-painted wood state, and it just wasn’t moving, so I knew a little makeover was necessary.
The before-

Soooo, I brought her home and gave her a sweet coat of my Annie Sloan chalk paint. But, I wasn’t finished with just a coat of the creamy white color, I wanted to give her just a touch of one of my best selling designs in my Etsy shop, the cherry blossoms. 

A coat of wax on the outside for sealer, and polycrylic on the inside for added durability, some hand sanding for that shabby chic distressed look, and she was finished. 

And, for the doll bed. Well that one also began as an outdated drabby wood piece, and it originally got a sunshine yellow makeover and tried to do life as a pet bed. I’m convinced that my city just doesn’t have any imagination, because no one was interested in the little yellow bed. OR, it could be that the bright as sunshine yellow just hurt their eyes and looked less-than-awesome.
This piece was one my mom was actually trying to sell, so I begged her to let me take it home and give it a new makeover. Thanks heavens.

Here’s the before-

Yeahhhh. Same makeover process as the toy box, and now as a cute doll bed she’s better than ever.
