It’s Friday, and my kids first official week of school is ending today. It’s been an amazing first week, good teachers, friends old and new. I even have a high schooler driving herself to school every day (pray for me). In the afternoons, I’ve gotten a kick out of seeing them bust through the doors ready to grab a snack and download their days to me.
I’m aware that we are blessed that my husband and I are in a position to be home as soon as the bell rings to release them from school. Growing up, neither he nor I always had our parents at home as soon as we were finished with school. Both sets often had work, especially my husbands. His mom was a widowed mom of five, and while she did the best she could, often his afternoons were spent alone until she got off work.
His situation is not unique. Did you know that every day, 15.1 million kids are left unsupervised after school? That number sounds outstanding! But, the Boys & Girls Clubs (BCGA) are there to provide kids with quality after-school programming to keep them on track to academic success and a great future, and what parent doesn’t want that?
As one of the ways to help out the families who are part of the Club, The Boys & Girls Clubs along with their partner Disney have launched an online supply drive. By simply playing a pop-quiz style game, YOU can help donate school supplies to local BGCA Clubs. For every five correct answers, a donation of supplies will be made!
I took the quiz (a few times actually), and you can too! You might be surprised at your knowledge, and I was a little more that surprised at what I learned about the BGCA. CLICK HERE to take the back to school quiz.

If you’re ready to learn more about the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the BGCA website offers a plethora of education content for parents as we send our children back to school this year!
