Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint Wine Rack Makeover

As I was looking through photos of projects I’ve completed recently to sell in my vendor space here in Florida or on Etsy, I realize that I have several easy makeovers that I’ve done that don’t necessarily require a how-to post. 
I thought I’d share one of my favorites today, which is an outdated brown wine rack that got a makeover with Annie Sloan old white chalk paint. 

If you’ve ever wondered or been on the fence as to whether or not chalk paint is as amazing as everyone says it is, my answer in one word is yes! It’s like magic paint. Seriously. I didn’t do anything to this piece before painting it. The wine rack is made out of wood, sort-of anyway. It’s more like a laminate something or another. Very shiny and slick, and 90’s grape decals stuck to it.
Without sanding, a regular paint an primer would’ve slid right off. 

But not chalk paint. One coat (sometimes two with white) and it’s covered completely, no prep.
And no, I’m not getting compensated by Annie Sloan to promote her product (although geeze, that WOULD be nice, right). I’m just giving you my honest opinion. Now, this project could’ve just as easily been done with DIY chalk paint but I had the Annie Sloan on hand, so I used it. 


Once the paint was on, I just sanded in all the right spots, waxed it with a regular minwax, and I was finished.

Of course, a side-by-side before and after comparison is necessary. 

I love how well the shabby chic look brings out all the details and curly-Qs.
