Fun and Easy Christmas Craft for Kids- Paint Chip Christmas Trees

I don’t know about you, but at our house the closer we get to Christmas, the more hyper and wound up the kids get. One of the best ways to get my youngest to settle down is to give him a craft project to do.

The other day my teenage daughter and I had to grab some tape from Home Depot. We were checking out all the pretty colors in the paint department, having one of our usual conversations about how we could probably make something from them, when one of us got the idea to make paint chip Christmas trees.

So, we asked the employee if we could take a handful of the chips to use for crafts and he said sure.

Yesterday was cold and rainy so I knew it was the perfect time to bust them out.

Paint Chip Christmas Trees

Supplies:

• Colorful paint chip sample cards
• Glue
• Scissors
• A child who needs a fun activity to do

The instructions are easy peasy.

Simply cut triangles from each color segment of the card. I got about seven evenly sized triangles per card

Next, have your little one glue the triangles together in the shape of a Christmas tree.

I was going to have him do a pattern from darkest to lightest, but then I realized that would be boxing in his own little creative vision, so I let him just have at his color selection.

He used all four colors per tree. They turned out perfectly imperfect, and I love them.

I also had one happy and proud kid when he was finished.

I cut, he glued, and together we made over 60 trees!

I hot glued some twine on the back of several, which makes them great for gift tags and ornaments. You could also stick a magnet to the back for the fridge.

I also measured a long piece of twine to go across the three windows in my Florida room, and glued the trees onto it to make a festive garland.

Sometimes it’s the easy projects that turn out the best, don’t you think?
