be ready for pool day

I know the kids are already getting ready to go back to school, but oh my gosh, summer isn’t even over yet! Here in Florida we’re still experiencing 100˚ weather. Although my crew returns to school on August 10, we’ll probably still be swimming in our pool straight through September. That means staying “pool day” ready.

I think my mom’s motto for us growing up was “Don’t Get Sunburned and Don’t Get Dehydrated” We played outside and swam all the time. Now my kids do the same thing, and I definitely sound like my mom (just ask them). Being prepared for a great day in the pool just takes a little prep work to gather all your supplies ahead of time, and you’re set to go.

Here’s a free, colorful “Pool Day Checklist” printable you can stick on the fridge to remember the things you’ll need for a successful day in the sun.

Throughout the summer I keep a beach bag full of towels ready, as well as sunscreen. Anyone who swims here knows these are must-haves before getting wet. Keeping hydrated is also at the top of our list of important things during the summer, so I keep cold drinks stocked in the fridge. When a lot of friends come over for pool parties, I set up a “Hydration Station” in a cooler or ice bucket outside for convenience. This is filled with drinks for everyone, so sometimes I need a lot of them at a time. Sam’s Club carries a 20-pack of vitaminwater that’s perfect for a summer day full of friends and swimming.

I use a chalkboard sign (I found mine at the craft store) and sidewalk chalk to make a “hydration station” sign. Write something colorful and fun on it for the day to direct your guests to the drinks.

You can create an entire pool day space by putting the vitaminwater you’ve stock up with in a cooler, add a pretty seasonal tablecloth, your sign you made, sunscreen, and any other pool type accessories all together outside. Use crates or cute sand buckets to hold your items in. They also make transportation from outdoors to indoors easy at the end of the day. Your people will easily recognize this is the place they can find all the things they need for a great pool day.

The vitaminwater is found in Sam’s Clubs in the beverage section of the club. It makes a great beverage of choice to help stay hydrated this summer because it has vitamins, lectrolytes, zero calories, and of course, it tastes great.

I’d love to know, what are some of your best tips and ideas for those hot summer days?

Do you have anything special you like to do to be “pool day” ready?

Looks like you are ready for the pool party. I feel like everyone is doing things for fall. Not for me yet, I am enjoying the longish, warm days. Thanks for being a part of Let’s Get Real.
