Several years ago one of my best friends and I decided to have a booth at a local Christmas craft show. We worked endlessly on many cute projects, including several styles of light bulb ornaments. To our surprise, those sold better than most of the others we had available. We made several styles- the Grinch, Penguins, Snowmen, you name it. But one of my favorites was Snoopy.
This year I’m participating with 24 other bloggers to bring you something so fun!
The 25 Days of Christmas Movies blog hop has crafts and recipes for all your favorite classic Christmas movies!
The Christmas movie I chose to feature is A Charlie Brown Christmas.
And as my craft, I’ll be showing you how to make a DIY Snoopy Ornament {plus I’m throwing in a free Charlie Brown printable quote}
To make your Snoopy ornament, you only need a few supplies (I use my affiliate links so you can click through to purchase exactly what you need) :
- a lightbulb
- white spray paint
- black craft foam (or felt would work too)
- black paint pen or craft paint
- seasonal felt or fabric for the hat
- ribbon
- scissors
- hot glue gun
First, spray paint your lightbulb white. You’d think you could skip this step, but most bulbs have writing or a brand stamp on them. Plus I like a the crisp, clean look of a coat of white paint. Especially if you’re recycling an old bulb, it’ll probably have some discoloration that will need to be covered anyway.
While it’s drying, tie and hot glue your ribbon to the neck of the bulb. This will be how your ornament hangs.
Then, cut two teardrop shapes from your black craft foam. These are Snoopy’s ears.
Next, hot glue the ears to each side of the bulb. Cut off any extra so that they fit the bulb exactly.
To make Snoopy’s stocking cap, cut a rectangle from your fabric.
Fold the bottom half up to make a cuff in the hat.
Begin by hot glueing it in place on the back of the neck of the bulb, and continue around the ornament until you reach the back again. Trim the extra fabric.
Make sure you’ve pulled your hanging ribbon through the top.
Then, tie the hat in the middle, and cut little fringes on the top. Trim any extra length off.
Last, with your black paint pen, draw two little eyes, an oval shaped nose, and a smile.
And he’s finished!
And for a bonus, here’s a free printable Charlie Brown Christmas quote from the movie!
(don’t worry, your printable will be watermark free)

I think this might be my favorite craft today! So cute. I made some of these in the “grinch” style a few years ago, but you are right, Snoopy is really special!
