This set of four flower pot designs are fun for you and the kids to create together this Christmas holiday season.
Together you can make a Santa, an elf, reindeer, and snowman and plant succulents or seasonal flowers in them.
*Most of these supplies can be found a any craft or dollar store, but I’m using affiliate links for your own shopping convenience if you’d like to order supplies online
None of the supplies are expensive, and chances are you may already have some of them on hand.
dFor each design, you’ll need terra cotta pots (I got small 2″ ones from the Dollar Tree, but you can use any size flower pot) as well as craft paints & a few paint brushes.
I’ll include all the additional supplies needed per design.
Santa Flower Pots:
- paintbrush
- red craft paint
- black craft paint
- yellow button
- glue
- white glitter
Paint the pot red.
Next, paint the top rim black.
Then glue a yellow button to the black rim to make Santa’s belt.
Use a paintbrush to “paint” a line of glue from the bottom to the top of the red part, just below the yellow button.
Last, sprinkle white glitter to the glue, shake off, and let dry.
Elf Flower Pots:
- paintbrush
- green craft paint
- white craft paint
- black craft paint
Paint the pot green.
Next, paint a black line from the bottom of the pot to the bottom of the rim.
Last, paint two half circles in white on the rim and top of the pot (this is the elf collar).
Reindeer Flower Pots:
- paintbrush
- glue
- brown craft paint
- brown craft foam
- red sequin or red pom-pom
- googly eyes
Paint the pot brown.
Glue red sequin or pom-pom to bottom for the nose.
Glue on the googly eyes.
Use a free pattern like THIS ONE to cut antlers from brown craft foam, and glue them to the inside of the top of the pot.
Snowman Flower Pots:
- paintbrush
- black craft paint
- white craft paint
- pretty ribbon wide enough to fit the top rim of your pot
- glue
Paint the pot white
Cut the ribbon to twice the length it would take to wrap the top of the rim, and then tie it around the rim.
Glue the ribbon in place, and trim the “scarf” to the length you like.
Paint small black circles in a line from top to bottom, beginning just under the rim of the pot.
The 2″ flower pots are the perfect size for a single small succulent. But, you could make a larger pot in any of these designs, place a pretty poinsettia or Christmas cactus inside, and it’s the perfect gift for a teacher, neighbor, grandparent, or special friend that your young one can be proud to give them.
What other designs would you create?
If you make your own, I’d love to see it!

Very cute!
What a great idea. I’ll be having my kids make some of these for my mother in-law, since she loves flowers! Thank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party. Pinned!
