When a book can make me laugh and cry, it’s been a good read! 

Out of Control by Mary Connealy was one of those books. It sounds quirky, but the best way to describe it is a romantic Christian cowboy novel, with a bit of suspense. 

Out of Control is set in the mountains of Colorado 1866. It hosts a few interesting plot twists as you explore the caves and mountain sides with several colorful characters, including Rafe Kincaid and Julia, who he meets during a very unexpected rescue. Rafe Kincaid is an independent rancher. His need for control even makes him a bit dry at times. He falls in love with a funny and sarcastic Julia, also independent but quite a free spirit. Julia is in love with the one place Rafe Kincaid despises, the cave on his family ranch. She longs to explore it, while he is dead set against it.

Can these two figure out life together with such a huge disagreement between them? Will Julia’s faith bring about change in Rafe? You’ll have to read it to find out!
I really enjoyed this book. In fact, when I finished reading it, I passed it onto my daughter who also loved it. It’s the only book we’ve ever read by Mary Connealy, and is in fact book #1 in the Kincaid bride series. After reading Out of Control, I’m definitely looking forward to reading book two, to see where life leads two of my favorite characters.

    I love reading about current time period. I'm not really into history and all the details that go with it! Easier to relate to current day characters.

    I'm ready to go find this book and read it. This is my favorite reading genre!! It sounds so good!

    my fav time period is definitely the 1700's – 1800's.

    Oh, I absolutely love historical fiction! I've only read one or two books that would be considered in the "Christian Cowboy" genre so I've made note of this one.
