The One-Day Way by Chantel Hobbs {Healthy Lifestyle} Book Week

June 26, 2012 by Molly

Lose All the Weight You Want, One Meal, One Pound, One Day At a Time!

Let’s face it, as women we think about our weight. Men do to. Maybe I should rephrase that, and say as humans, Americans, mothers, fathers, teens, even kids, weight is something that is thrown in our face constantly. TV, magazines, internet, you get the picture.
After having my fifth baby, I’ve taken a look at my own eating and exercise choices, and realize that I’ve fallen short of where I should be. Maybe this is you. But maybe, like me, you’ve tried dieting, and have even lost some weight, only to have gained some, all, or more back. And this is frustrating, to say the least. Then, instead of trying again, I’ve realized I just do nothing.
If that sounds like you too, The One-Day Way by Chantal Hobbs may be the exact book you need to read next. If you’re looking for a book that is not judgmental of where you are now, where you’ve been, even where you need to be then you’ll find that in this one. The idea is that you take each day at a time, one day at a time. No more looking at past failures or even non-attempts, but only just looking at today and what you can do to change and improve in this day.
This is the first healthy lifestyle book I’ve ever picked up that takes a look at eating and health from a Christian standpoint. I wasn’t sure at first if I would even like it, my weight isn’t something I like dwelling on or spending time reading about how to fix. I’ll admit, the first three or four chapters were a bit slow and repetitive, but once I pushed through and got to the heart of the book, I was able to finish with no problem.
The One-Day Way takes the reader back to basic strategies. Nothing complicated, expensive, or temporary if you embrace the ideas and plans that Chantel offers.
One of my favorite parts of the book were the testimonials from real folks that have stayed the course, and have come out a winner. It’s always encouraging to hear a similar story to mine, and realize that I can do it too! I also enjoyed the “Ten Commandments of The One-Day Way”. I suggest printing them and keeping them you’ll read often, just for a bit of extra encouragement and a reminder.
After finishing this book, I’m personally taking it to heart, and I’ve decided to give a more healthy lifestyle another try. My family does not eat an unhealthy diet in general, but there is certainly room for improvement. Will you join me? Give The One-Day Way a try, you may find it’s exactly what you’re looking for!

This sounds like a really great book. I like that it's not judgemental. I also like that you're taking one step at a time. Yes, we may have eaten a bag or oreos yesterday but that doesn't mean we can't can't eat healthier today. Thanks for sharing.
