My Thoughts:
By now you should know that I’m such a sucker for 19th Century Westerns. Especially if they’re romantic but clean, witty, and entertaining. Short-Straw Bride had it all! I loved A Tailor-Made Bride by Karen Witemeyer, so I had high hopes for this one as well. I was not disappointed! Short-Straw Bride was a fast paced book that I just couldn’t put down.
Each character was well rounded and well developed, I didn’t feel like any were unnecessary, which can occasionally happen when there are several main characters like in this book.
I laughed a lot, and almost cried a few times as well, as I watched the relationship between Travis and Meredith evolve.
If you love a book that has a message of faith without it overpowering the story, as well as enjoy a bit of humor mixed with action and romance, then I definitely recommend Short-Straw Bride!
